Personally, I love this cover! It raises important questions while pushing the envelope and brings breastfeeding back to the forefront as front page news. Breastfeeding in the United States is at it’s highest rate since the 1950’s when formula was first introduced. Clearly, we all agree that this is a hot topic and similarly, we (most) agree “Breast is best.” I’m very supportive of women who breastfeed as long as possible. Breasts have been so overly sexualized in our society that society’s collective perception of this image esteems it as controversial, gross, perverse, inappropriate and the list can go on. Any breastfeeding mother knows, there’s nothing sexual about the experience. Are you kidding me? Leaky boobs, cracked, bleeding nipples. Not the look you’re going for especially when you’re so sleep deprived you can’t remember the last time you put make up on. There’s nothing “sexual” about it, however, it is truly intimate and beautiful. Bonding with your baby the way your body intended, that’s not perversion - it’s Mother Nature. As mothers, we should support each other always, no matter what decision we make. After all, we’re all in this together.
As the title of my blog suggests, Rookie Mommy Ramblings is just that. As a first time mom to a precocious toddler who also juggles a full-time role as a hard-working communications professional, sometimes I just need to ramble! At the same time, I know I'm not alone. I hope you can relate to my posts and also find worthy information on South Florida events for cool parents like you! Follow me here:
